All the wood bases forming the prototype for Appi lacquerware use domestic timber.
Primarily featuring Mizume cherry, horse chestnut, zelkova, and Japanese zelkova, these vertically-turned bases resist warping, are sturdy, and resist cracking.
Appi lacquerware uses precious lacquer from Iwate Prefecture, accounting for only 2% of domestic circulation. It offers the reassurance unique to domestic lacquer and is characterized by its pure, soft luster.
This is a simple lacquerware piece suitable for any occasion.

While the standard process involves shaping dried wood on a lathe, this bowl is intentionally warped by turning green wood and then drying it.
Its unique form, never identical to another, soothes the heart and makes it a vessel you'll cherish and use with affection.
